Elephants by Zbigniew Herbert :

In truth, elephants are extremely sensitive and high-strung.
They have a wild imagination which allows them sometimes to forget about their appearance.
When they go into the water, they close their eyes. 
At the sight of their own legs they weep in frustration.
I knew an elephant who fell in love with a hummingbird.
He lost weight, got no sleep, and in the end died of a broken heart.
Those ignorant of the elephant’s nature said:
he was so overweight.

वास्तव में , हाथी अतिशय संवेदनशील और जीवट होते है ।
वो एक घोर कल्पना में जीते हैं जो उन्हे अनुमति देती है भूल जाने की
कभी कभी खुद का रूप रंग ।
जब वो पानी में जाते हैं अपनी आँखें बंद कर लेते हैं ।
और अपने पैरों को देखकर हताशा में रो पड़ते हैं ।
मैं जानता हूँ एक हाथी को जो एक हमिंगबर्ड के प्रेम में पड़ गया था ।
उसका वजन गिर गया , नींद उड़ गयी , और अंत में टूटे दिल से मर गया ।
वो जो हाथी के स्वभाव से अंजान थी बोली :
वो काफी मोटा था !
